Full job description

Samba seeks a Technical Product Manager to own the technical roadmap process for platform and infrastructure initiatives. The role involves partnering with engineering teams, PMO, and senior leadership to prioritize technical investments, define requirements, and ensure execution. Responsibilities include managing the roadmap process, evaluating proposals, maintaining a prioritized backlog, defining requirements, coordinating cross-team execution, and improving related processes and tools. Candidates should have 5+ years in technical product management, strong technical fluency in architecture, infrastructure, APIs, and data systems, excellent communication skills, experience with data platforms or infrastructure, familiarity with Agile and Jira, and the ability to influence engineering teams without authority.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end technical roadmap process from intake through launch
  • Propose, review, and evaluate incoming technical initiative proposals
  • Maintain and communicate a prioritized backlog of technical initiatives
  • Define and document requirements for cross-team and org-level initiatives
  • Partner with PMO to translate roadmap into quarterly team commitments
  • Advocate for enablement and technical risk reduction initiatives
  • Coordinate across engineering teams during execution of cross-team initiatives
  • Continuously improve processes, tooling (Jira), and documentation supporting the roadmap

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management or a similar position
  • Strong technical fluency with architecture, infrastructure, APIs, and data systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to drive prioritization and clarity in ambiguous environments
  • Experience in data platforms, infrastructure, or platform engineering environments preferred
  • Experience writing or managing requirements documentation for technically complex initiatives
  • Familiarity with Agile/scrum practices and project tracking tools (Jira experience a plus)
  • Ability to build trust with engineering teams and influence without authority
