Full job description
The Trade Desk is hiring a mid-level Support Engineer to collaborate with Business and Engineering teams to provide API and technical support for enterprise clients. The role involves preventing technical issues through QA testing, improving internal monitoring and alerting processes, troubleshooting and resolving API-related issues, owning incident management, contributing to knowledge bases, coordinating training, and leading improvement projects. Requires 4-6 years of technical/application support experience with strong API monitoring and troubleshooting skills, proficiency in SQL and APIs (REST, JSON, GraphQL), and ability to work cross-functionally. Programming experience in HTML, Python, Java, or JavaScript is a plus. Location: Irvine, California. Salary range: $64,100–$117,500 USD. What you'll do
- Serve as a Support Engineer for the Technical Account Management (TAM) team managing enterprise API clients and third-party partners using REST, JSON, GraphQL APIs
- Focus on prevention of technical issues through API QA testing and validation
- Execute and manipulate stored procedures and write queries in SQL
- Monitor ticketing case system; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues escalated by TAM and Client Services related to platform and APIs
- Own incidents including collaboration and escalation to Engineering, Product, and Business Intelligence
- Enhance internal processes such as improving issue visibility and alerting of priority issues
- Contribute to the company and Support Team’s knowledge base
- Coordinate in-depth training on Support-related tools and processes
- Identify opportunities for improvement and lead projects to address gaps or weaknesses
- Provide light on-call/after-hours support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university or relevant substitute experience
- 4 – 6 years relevant work experience in Technical and/or Application Support with strong knowledge of API monitoring and troubleshooting
- Deep curiosity for understanding how things work, especially as it applies to technology and its underlying framework
- Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively and collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, complex, and growing environment
- Mid-level to advanced experience with databases, SQL, APIs – Able to create queries to retrieve records, understand underlying data structures, and troubleshoot JSON, REST & GraphQL APIs
- Work well in a team, including leading knowledge sharing and training sessions
- Experience managing complex datasets, identifying trends, and performing comparisons between multiple data sources
- Experience with programming languages (HTML, Python, Java, JavaScript) is a plus
- Knowledge of advertising technology industry is a plus
- Multi-lingual is a plus
