Full job description
Lead Japan's telecom customers and partners into AI era transformation, focusing on business process transformation using TM Forum frameworks, autonomous networks, and AI-enabled operations. Originate and close large, complex multi-year deals, acting as trusted advisor to operator executives. Collaborate with partners and industry bodies (TM Forum, GSMA) to shape standards and industry direction. Requires 15+ years telecom or related experience, consultative sales and transformation expertise, business process knowledge, and bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English. Based in Tokyo with domestic and regional travel.
What you'll do
Lead business process transformation conversations using TM Forum frameworks
Reengineer core telecom process domains end to end including operations, strategy, infrastructure, and enterprise management
Connect process transformation to architecture including data foundations, OSS/BSS modernization, API exposure

Serve as telecom industry subject matter expert in account planning for Japan
Champion Forward Deployed Engineering to co build and productionize AI and agent solutions
Identify and qualify forward deployed engineering opportunities
Collaborate with account teams, business strategy leads, solution architects, technical specialists, consulting teams, and partners
Build and maintain deep industry knowledge including standards, market trends, policy, and competitors
Lead communication across ecosystem and provide feedback to sales, marketing, and engineering teams
Advise and present at industry and customer communities in Japan and region
Establish learning baseline for less experienced colleagues
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 15+ years customer facing experience in telecommunications, management consulting, consultative selling, technology, or industry relevant equivalent management or technical work experience; OR Master's Degree AND 13+ years such experience; OR equivalent experience
Experience in consultative sales, advisory, strategy, business development, transformation, or technology leadership in telecommunications or related fields
Demonstrated experience shaping and closing large, complex, multi year transformation deals with senior executive stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in telecom business process transformation with working knowledge of TM Forum frameworks
Business level Japanese and professional working proficiency in English
Preferred: 17+ years experience with Bachelor's degree or 15+ years with Master's degree or equivalent
Preferred: Direct experience with autonomous networks and TM Forum Autonomous Networks maturity levels
Preferred: Active engagement with industry bodies such as TM Forum and GSMA
Preferred: Familiarity with GSMA Open Gateway and network API monetization models
Preferred: Deep experience in Japanese telecommunications market and regulatory environment
Preferred: Experience leading partners and ecosystems through capability and business model transitions
Preferred: Secondary exposure to media and entertainment sectors
Preferred: Experience collaborating with forward deployed engineering teams to co build AI solutions
Preferred: Working knowledge of cloud, data, AI, Frontier AI, automation, security, and modern application capabilities in regulated telecom environments
Ability to navigate complex matrixed organizations and deliver through influence
