Full job description
Lead Japan's telecom customers and partners into AI-driven transformation. Drive business process transformation using TM Forum frameworks and GSMA standards. Reengineer core telecom processes end to end, connecting transformation to architecture and data foundations. Advocate autonomous networks and help operators build staged paths to autonomy. Serve as trusted advisor on AI implications for telecom business models and lead partners through capability transitions. Represent Microsoft in industry bodies and shape standards. Originate and close large, complex multi-year deals with executive sponsorship. Identify and scale Frontier AI scenarios beyond pilots. Champion Forward Deployed Engineering embedding AI teams with customers. Collaborate with internal teams and partners to execute customer opportunities. Maintain deep industry knowledge and lead ecosystem communication. Requires 15+ years telecom or related experience, business level Japanese and professional English, and strong consultative sales and transformation skills. Based in Tokyo, Japan with domestic and regional travel.

Construct commercial and business value narratives for deals based on customer strategic commitments
Navigate long, consensus-driven pursuit cycles in Japanese enterprise decision making
Orchestrate extended pursuit teams across multiple disciplines and partners
Identify customer needs and business value opportunities across telecom value chain including mobile, broadband, enterprise, network planning, operations, marketing, billing, OSS/BSS, 5G, edge computing, IoT, and adjacent digital services
Apply outcomes inward approach to scale Frontier AI scenarios beyond pilots to enterprise transformation
Serve as telecom industry subject matter expert in account planning and stakeholder mapping
Champion Forward Deployed Engineering by embedding AI accelerated engineering teams with customers
Identify and qualify opportunities for embedded engineering engagements
Collaborate with internal teams and partners to plan and execute customer opportunities
Build and maintain deep industry knowledge including standards, market trends, policy, and competitors
Lead communication across ecosystem providing feedback and advising on product trends and sales blockers
Present at industry and customer communities and establish learning baseline for colleagues
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 15+ years customer facing experience in telecommunications, management consulting, consultative selling, technology, or industry relevant equivalent management or technical work experience; OR Master's Degree AND 13+ years such experience; OR equivalent experience
Experience in consultative sales, advisory, strategy, business development, transformation, or technology leadership in telecommunications or related enterprise technology fields
Demonstrated experience shaping and closing large, complex, multi year transformation deals with senior executive stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in telecom business process transformation with working knowledge of TM Forum frameworks
Business level Japanese and professional working proficiency in English
Preferred: 17+ years experience with Bachelor's or 15+ years with Master's or equivalent
Preferred: Direct experience with autonomous networks and TM Forum Autonomous Networks maturity levels
Preferred: Active engagement with industry bodies such as TM Forum and GSMA
Preferred: Familiarity with GSMA Open Gateway and network API monetization models
Preferred: Deep experience in Japanese telecommunications market and regulatory environment
Preferred: Experience leading partners and ecosystems through capability and business model transitions
Preferred: Secondary exposure to media and entertainment sectors within carrier groups
Preferred: Experience collaborating with forward deployed engineering teams to co build AI solutions
Preferred: Working knowledge of cloud, data, AI, Frontier AI, automation, security in regulated telecom environments
Ability to navigate complex matrixed organizations and deliver through influence
