The Trade Desk seeks a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead analytics engineering efforts and drive data-driven decision making across multiple teams. Responsibilities include surfacing insights from diverse data sources, building semantic layers with tools like dbt and Power BI, analyzing KPIs, identifying business opportunities and risks, and collaborating cross-functionally. Candidates must have a master's degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years in analytics engineering or BI, 8-12 years in advanced analytics and predictive modeling, and 3+ years supporting sales with actionable insights. Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, Excel, and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) is required. Strong communication, critical thinking, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are essential. The role is based in New York and offers a salary range of $103,200 to $189,200 USD, comprehensive benefits including healthcare, retirement plans, stock purchase options, and paid time off.
What you'll do
- Surface insights from multiple data sources to support complex operational decision making
- Execute and/or coordinate advanced analytics initiatives and interpret findings
- Build semantic layer (e.g., dbt, Power BI tabular models) exposing business-friendly metrics and hierarchies
- Drive versioning, automated testing, and documentation standards
- Analyze KPIs and success metrics across business areas and develop actionable insights for leadership
- Proactively identify business opportunities and risks
- Develop scalable solutions delivering critical data-driven insights and decision metrics
- Participate in cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Operations, Product, Technology, People Analytics, and Finance
- Develop strong collaborative relationships with BI leadership and key stakeholders
- Provide transformational thought leadership in analytics including advanced data modeling and predictive modeling
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a quantitative or scientific field (Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years professional experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence roles
- 8-12 years analytical experience in advanced analysis and predictive analytics
- 3+ years of experience supporting Sales with actionable insights
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as SQL, R, Python
- Expert level experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with BI and analysis tools (Tableau, Power BI)
- Curiosity to understand the 'why' in the data
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to present complex data-driven insights to all levels including senior and executive leadership
- Ability to convey technical topics to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently in a rapidly growing environment with multiple competing priorities
- Ability to build consensus across cross-functional and geographic teams
- Ability to quickly understand complex business topics
