Full job description

Viant seeks a Software Engineer with Clojure experience to collaborate with the IRIS.TV engineering team. The role involves designing and building data processing pipelines and APIs, optimizing performance metrics, solving engineering challenges using Clojure and open source tools on AWS, and working with high-availability distributed systems. Required skills include Clojure, distributed systems, Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, performance tuning, and familiarity with data workflows and domain knowledge in video, MarTech, or AdTech. Benefits include fully paid health insurance, paid parental leave, and unlimited PTO. Salary range is $130,000 - $160,000. Locations: Irvine, CA and Los Angeles, CA.

What you'll do

  • Design and build data processing pipelines and APIs with the data engineering team
  • Track and optimize key performance metrics with the data science team
  • Solve engineering challenges using Clojure and free software tools on AWS
  • Work with high-availability distributed systems
  • Measure code in production and anticipate scaling needs

Requirements

  • Experience with Clojure
  • Experience with distributed systems (e.g., microservices, fault-tolerant architectures)
  • Proficiency with Kafka, Redis, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Strong problem-solver with a DevOps mindset and ability to work independently
  • Skilled in performance tuning (profiling, benchmarking, latency optimization)
  • Familiarity with data workflows (analytics, ML support)
  • Domain knowledge in video, MarTech, or AdTech
