The Senior Staff Engineer will design, build, and operate TripleLift’s real-time bidding platform handling over a trillion ad transactions monthly. Responsibilities include developing high-throughput backend services focused on bidding logic, auction mechanics, traffic shaping, and creative/image processing with emphasis on reliability, observability, and cost efficiency. The role requires writing maintainable, well-tested code, using AI coding assistants to improve development, researching AI/ML optimizations, collaborating with global teams, and mentoring engineers. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years in backend software engineering with Java, experience with large-scale network systems, in-memory key-value stores, messaging systems, distributed systems design, multi-region AWS operations, AI coding tools, JVM performance tuning, and programmatic advertising knowledge.
