Full job description

Microsoft Ads Editor team seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain features for a cross-platform desktop application enabling advertisers to manage large-scale campaigns. Requires 4+ years coding experience in languages such as C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python. Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, writing clean code, participating in code reviews, owning technical OKRs, contributing to automated testing and CI/CD, and engaging in agile practices. Must meet Microsoft security screening requirements including a cloud background check. Preferred skills include software engineering fundamentals, React, TypeScript, Electron, debugging, accessibility standards, bulk data processing, and strong communication and collaboration abilities. Location: Bengaluru, India. Full-time, on-site role.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain features for Microsoft Ads Editor desktop application
  • Mentor early talent engineers and collaborate with cross-functional partners
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following Microsoft standards
  • Participate in code reviews and continuously improve code quality and team practices
  • Own technical OKRs for the desktop application and improve reliability and performance
  • Contribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for rapid releases
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies and contribute to a culture of learning and inclusion

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
  • Understanding of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and version control (Git)
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks for scalable user interfaces
  • Familiarity with Electron or cross-platform desktop app development
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET for backend or integration work in large-scale modular applications
  • Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills across UI, API, and data layers
  • Experience or willingness to learn accessibility (A11y) standards and inclusive design
  • Experience with bulk data processing, offline workflows, or large-scale data editing
  • High motivation, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a diverse, global team
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills for documentation and cross-team communication
  • Growth mindset and adaptability with rapid ramp-up on new codebases and proactive ownership
  • Team player with experience mentoring peers and contributing to inclusive team culture
