Full job description

The Trade Desk is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Infrastructure to develop and maintain scalable service-oriented solutions supporting a globally distributed system processing over 15 million requests per second. Responsibilities include building automation tools, improving operational health through root-cause analysis, reducing manual toil, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Candidates should have 5-10 years of experience writing clean, maintainable code in TypeScript, Go/Golang, or C#, with domain knowledge in Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud), Linux internals, and GitOps tools like Terraform and Ansible. Strong systems design understanding, operational efficiency, communication skills, and a data-driven approach are required. What you'll do

  • Create and maintain in-house service oriented solutions at scale for infrastructure supporting a globally distributed system handling over 15 million requests per second
  • Help product teams ship more efficiently and safely through automation, tools, and processes usable by all teams
  • Innovate infrastructure solutions by building, implementing, operating, and adding features to self-service tooling and automation
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and postmortem discussions to improve long-term operational health
  • Analyze process gaps and implement solutions to speed execution and reduce manual toil
  • Apply Site Reliability Engineering mindset elements such as configuration management, capacity modeling, monitoring, data collection and analysis, KPI definitions and tracking
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation

Requirements

  • Experience writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in TypeScript, Go/Golang, or C#
  • Designing, developing, deploying, and supporting service-oriented applications
  • Domain knowledge in Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, Backstage
  • Experience with Kafka and Service Discovery tools like Consul
  • Experience with cloud providers AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun)
  • Knowledge of Linux OS internals, filesystems, storage technologies, protocols, and networking stack
  • Experience with GitOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
  • Understanding of systems design and building always-on systems
  • Data-driven approach to work and long-term planning
  • Ability to reduce complexity and operational risks
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Participation in 24/7 on-call rotation
