Microsoft Advertising Mediation Service (MMS) is a real-time auction and mediation platform built on Go, processing OpenRTB traffic globally. The Senior Software Engineer will own architecture decisions for MMS, including request hot path, experimentation framework, bidder adapter ecosystem, and Azure-native infrastructure. Responsibilities include designing scalable Go services with strict latency and availability SLAs, extending bidder adapter framework, improving auction subsystems, contributing to experimentation and observability frameworks, and enhancing Azure deployments and CI/CD pipelines. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of engineering experience coding in languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, and meeting Microsoft security screening requirements. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees or 6-8+ years experience, deep Go expertise, experience with OpenRTB/programmatic advertising, auction systems, Kubernetes & Azure, distributed systems, experimentation platforms, and observability. The role is on-site in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA, with a salary range of $119,800 to $234,700 USD per year, higher in SF Bay Area and NYC.

Contribute to architecture of MMS platform including OpenRTB request hot path, auction engines, bidder adapter framework, and experimentation system
Collaborate with cross-team engineers on shared technical problems
Participate in design and code reviews and mentor senior engineers
Identify and manage technical risks related to reliability, latency, cost, and correctness

Participate in cost reduction, cold-start improvements, config-reload behavior, and cross-region failover hardening
Improve CI/CD pipelines including canary and progressive rollout strategies
Help ensure consistent and efficient software delivery across SDLC
Contribute to runbooks, deployment documentation, and oncall readiness
Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews
Leverage AI development tools to improve engineering productivity
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements including Microsoft Cloud Background Check
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience OR equivalent experience
4+ years of experience building and operating latency-sensitive backend services with strict SLA requirements (P99 measured in milliseconds, five-nines availability)
Deep production experience with Go including profiling, GC tuning, concurrency patterns, and performance-sensitive code on the request hot path
Hands-on experience with OpenRTB / programmatic advertising including header bidding, real-time bidding, mediation, exchanges, SSPs/DSPs, brand safety, or identity/cookie syncing
Experience designing or evolving auction systems including pricing logic, bidder filtration, dynamic reserve pricing, or floor-price optimization at scale
