Full job description

Microsoft Advertising Platform team is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable backend services for online advertising. The role involves coding, debugging, testing, architectural improvements, collaboration, and mentoring engineers. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or 8+ years experience, knowledge of distributed systems, cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS), and experience in online advertising. The position is full-time, on-site in Redmond, Washington. Salary range is USD 119,800 - 234,700 per year, with higher ranges for certain metro areas. Candidates must pass Microsoft Cloud background check and security screenings.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and deliver innovative and impactful features
  • Work on coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process
  • Drive long-term architectural improvements and development for highly scalable services with quality, performance, and maintainability
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality solutions from concept to release and live operations
  • Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements including Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience in building scalable, secure, high performance backend products and services
  • Excellent technical design, problem solving and debugging skills
  • Proven track record in shipping software on time with high quality
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of Distributed systems design
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar cloud computing platforms
  • Experience in online advertising
