Full job description
Microsoft Ads is seeking an Azure Platform Engineer to build and maintain secure, reusable Terraform and CDKTF/CDKTN modules for Azure infrastructure. The role involves consulting on cloud architecture, developing automation and AI-driven interfaces, building AI agents and MCP server integrations, driving security and compliance remediation, managing observability and deployment tooling, designing scalable CI/CD pipelines, and writing technical documentation. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 4+ years coding experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or 6+ years experience, 4+ years with Microsoft Azure and Terraform, experience managing large-scale, highly available systems, proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, and experience with AI agent integration. Build and maintain secure-by-default, reusable Terraform and CDKTF/CDKTN modules to standardize and accelerate Azure infrastructure deployments
Consult with internal engineering teams to guide cloud architecture design, optimize for cost and security, and ensure alignment with platform standards

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience OR equivalent experience
4+ years of experience in Microsoft Azure and Terraform (or experience with AWS or GCP and interest in Azure)
Experience managing globally distributed, highly available, real-time 24/7 systems
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and at least one programmatic IaC framework such as CDKTF, CDKTN, Pulumi, or Bicep
Minimum 4 years programming or scripting experience with modern software development practices including CI/CD pipelines
Practical experience building or integrating AI agents (e.g., MCP servers, agent tooling, automation on LLMs)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially explaining technical concepts to non-specialists
Growth mindset, openness to learning, passion for improving developer experiences
6+ years deploying and managing Azure infrastructure, especially globally distributed and highly available systems
Hands-on experience deploying Terraform on Azure and migrating between IaC toolchains
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
Experience building self-service tools and developer platforms for provisioning Azure infrastructure
Experience with Kubernetes and AKS including admission policy and cluster platform services
Experience with observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, and querying telemetry with Kusto (KQL)
Experience operating in compliance-driven environments and driving remediation across teams
Solid understanding of cloud cost optimization, secure access control, and automated governance
