Full job description
Microsoft Advertising is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and enhance an AI-driven real-time bidding platform for digital advertising. The role involves collaborating with data scientists and product teams to build scalable, autonomous AI bidding systems using machine learning, reinforcement learning, and distributed systems. Responsibilities include designing and implementing bidding platforms, ensuring data quality, managing operational excellence, developing simulation frameworks, and mentoring engineers. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees and extensive experience with large-scale streaming platforms, distributed systems, MLOps, and AI applications. The position requires passing Microsoft Cloud background checks and working on-site in Mountain View, CA or Redmond, WA. Salary ranges from $119,800 to $234,700 annually, with higher ranges in select metropolitan areas.

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements including Microsoft Cloud Background Check
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years experience
4+ years hands-on experience with large-scale streaming platforms such as Apache Spark or Flink
4+ years experience as a technical lead including mentoring and guiding engineers
5+ years experience developing and deploying large-scale distributed systems in production
5+ years hands-on experience in machine learning operations (MLOps) including pipeline automation, monitoring, and lifecycle management
Domain knowledge and experience building large scale distributed bidding or auction platforms
Experience building real world applications using AI techniques
