Full job description

Google's advertising measurement team seeks a Data Scientist to apply statistical methods to improve advertising products such as Search, Display, Apps, TV, and YouTube. The role involves collaborating with engineers, analysts, and product managers to develop and deploy new scientific methods at scale, focusing on ad measurement and monetization. Candidates must have a Master's degree in a quantitative field and 5 years of relevant experience (or 3 years with a PhD). Preferred qualifications include 8 years of experience (or 6 with a PhD), expertise in causal inference methods, statistical data analysis, and applied machine learning. The position is based in Mountain View, California. Compensation ranges from $174,000 to $253,000 USD plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.

What you'll do

  • Develop, evaluate and improve Google's advertising products including Search, Display, Apps, TV and Video (YouTube)
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts and product managers to develop new science and translate it into deployed products at scale
  • Develop new ideas and methods that drive ad measurement and monetization
  • Build and drive impact on large-scale ad-systems at Google and in the ad-tech and mar-tech industry globally

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • 5 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 3 years of work experience with a PhD degree
  • Preferred: 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 6 years of work experience with a PhD degree
  • Experience articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data
  • Experience with causal inference methods such as split-testing, instrumental variables, difference-in-difference methods, fixed effects regression, panel data models, regression discontinuity, matching estimators
  • Experience with statistical data analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods
  • Applied experience with machine learning on datasets
