Full job description

Senior Manager, Engineering role providing technical leadership for design and architecture of AI and machine learning solutions integrated with partners. Lead and mentor 6-10 engineers through software development lifecycle. Hands-on player-coach setting technical direction and collaborating cross-functionally. Own business and organizational strategy for domain. Partner with Product Managers to define requirements and engineering roadmaps. Manage tooling, infrastructure, hiring, performance, and retention. Requirements: BS/MS/PhD in STEM, 8+ years software development, 5+ years managing engineering teams, experience building scalable AI/ML systems, expertise in system design and architecture, excellent communication, agile environment experience. Preferred: MLOps, CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, data pipelines, AI community contributions. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance, 401k matching, competitive compensation, and bonuses. Locations: New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dublin. Salary range: $126,000 - $216,000 annually.

What you'll do

  • Lead and mentor a team of 6-10 engineers through the software development lifecycle
  • Operate as a player-coach, reviewing designs and setting technical direction by example
  • Own business and organizational strategy for the domain, identifying key problems to solve
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure cohesive AI-augmented work streams
  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to define product requirements and engineering roadmaps
  • Coach team on technical best practices and push for significant impact
  • Own and manage tooling and infrastructure investments
  • Manage hiring, performance, and retention to build a high-performing team

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related STEM field
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development
  • At least 5 years leading and managing high-performing engineering teams
  • Deep, hands-on experience building and deploying AI and machine learning systems at scale
  • Hands-on experience in modern AI-augmented development workflows
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Product and business stakeholders
  • Expertise in system design and architecture for scalable, production-grade AI services
  • Experience working with other teams or technical program managers to coordinate cross-team projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience building and leading teams in a fast-paced, agile environment
