FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks a Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture to lead a team of Enterprise Architects supporting its AdTech product portfolio. The role involves defining architecture strategy, governance, and standards, guiding technical direction for distributed, cloud-native systems including ad serving, SSP, DSP, audience/identity, measurement, and data platforms. Responsibilities include partnering with Product and Engineering leadership, overseeing architecture governance, shaping roadmaps to reduce technical debt, and driving modernization efforts. The candidate must have 12+ years in software engineering or architecture, 10+ years in people leadership, and strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, security, and large-scale systems. Preferred experience includes AdTech, premium video, generative AI, and FinOps. The position is full-time with locations in New York, Reston, Chicago, and Englewood. Salary ranges from $205,230 to $307,845 in New York and $179,576 to $307,845 in other locations. Define and drive Enterprise Architecture vision, operating model, and engagement approach

Shape portfolio-level roadmaps to reduce technical debt and create reusable platforms
Influence build, buy, extend, customize, and retire decisions based on business value and risk
Identify opportunities to apply generative AI and agentic AI and establish architecture guardrails
Drive improvements in architecture maturity, engineering effectiveness, software quality, system reliability, scalability, security posture, and cost transparency
Represent Enterprise Architecture in senior leadership forums and cross-functional planning
Build strong partnerships across Product, Commercial, Engineering, Security, Data, Platform, Operations, and client-facing teams
Coach and mentor architects and senior technical leaders
Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters
Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
12+ years of experience in software engineering, software architecture, or enterprise architecture
10+ years of people leadership experience managing senior architects or senior technical individual contributors
Experience leading architecture for distributed, high-scale platforms
Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering leadership to define architecture strategy and roadmaps
Strong knowledge of modern cloud-native architecture including microservices, Kubernetes, APIs, event-driven systems, resiliency patterns, observability, and security-by-design
Ability to lead architectural direction for complex data-intensive and transaction-oriented systems
Experience establishing architecture governance, decision frameworks, standards, and review processes
Strong understanding of security, privacy, identity, integration, and data architecture patterns
Ability to evaluate tradeoffs across build/buy/customize/deprecate strategies and communicate technical decisions effectively
Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational influencing skills
Preferred: Experience in AdTech, MarTech, media technology or digital advertising ecosystems
Preferred: Experience with premium video, CTV, SSAI, live event monetization, or marketplace platforms
Preferred: Experience supporting global product organizations with multiple engineering teams
Preferred: Hands-on familiarity with architecture patterns for generative AI, RAG, workflow orchestration, agentic AI, and governance for production AI systems
Preferred: Experience driving modernization of legacy systems into modular, platform-oriented, API-first, and event-driven architectures
Preferred: Experience with FinOps, cost-aware architecture, and cloud spend discipline
