Senior Director, Cloud Architecture

What you'll do

• Define and drive cloud architecture strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned with business and engineering priorities
• Lead design and implementation of scalable, resilient, cost-optimized AWS cloud infrastructure
• Establish cloud-native best practices, architectural standards, and governance frameworks
• Oversee infrastructure as code practices, CI/CD pipeline integrations, and automation strategies
• Architect and enforce security-by-design principles including IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and compliance controls
• Lead cloud cost management initiatives and promote fiscal responsibility
• Evaluate and champion emerging cloud technologies and industry trends
• Serve as technical escalation point and executive sponsor for critical infrastructure incidents
• Mentor and develop cloud and infrastructure engineering teams
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Data Engineering, and Product teams

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering
• At least 4 years in a senior leadership or staff/principal-level technical role
• Deep, hands-on expertise with AWS services including EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation/Terraform
• Proven ability to architect and scale cloud platforms in high-throughput, low-latency environments
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi
• Experience with CI/CD automation practices
• Experience driving cloud security, governance, and compliance programs (SOC2, PCI, NIST CSF, or equivalent)
• Track record of leading and developing distributed engineering teams
• Exceptional communication skills for technical and executive audiences
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and manage competing priorities
