Full job description

Join Microsoft Advertising Data Science Team to manage marketplace metrics, build analytical and experimentation frameworks, and enable data-driven decisions. Solve real-world problems using data science techniques. Responsibilities include defining metrics, experimental design, product iteration, cross-team collaboration, stakeholder engagement, independent decision-making, and strategic planning. Required qualifications include advanced degree in relevant fields with corresponding data science experience, proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, C#, Java, or C++, strong analytical and organizational skills, experience in system building, collaboration, communication, and applying statistics and experimentation to generate insights. Salary ranges from $119,800 to $234,700 annually in general US locations, higher in SF Bay Area and NYC. Role is full-time with hybrid work expectation.

What you'll do

  • Define, invent, and deliver metrics to measure user and business value across products and marketplace components
  • Design experiments considering sampling and experimental design across User and Demand dimensions
  • Interpret analysis results, validate approaches, monitor, analyze, and iterate to improve products
  • Partner with program management, engineers, and other business areas
  • Engage stakeholders to produce clear, actionable insights and data-science driven workflows
  • Make independent decisions and handle difficult tradeoffs
  • Translate strategy into clear, measurable plans with monthly progress updates to stakeholders

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year data-science experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience
  • OR equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience in at least one programming language like Python, R, MATLAB, C#, Java, or C++
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and data science skills
  • Ability to solve novel problems
  • Experience with system building and data collection, including design, coding, and evaluation
  • Experience driving large collaboration across multiple teams
  • Experience communicating insights to different audiences
  • Demonstrated experience applying statistics, experimentation, and metrics to generate actionable insights
