Full job description

Samba is seeking a Data Engineer for the Internal Data and Performance team within the Internal Measurement department. The role involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines for internal metrics, dashboards, and reporting. Responsibilities include improving data collection, storage, and retrieval processes, collaborating with data scientists and analysts on algorithms, managing Airflow DAGs and orchestration workflows, and participating in code reviews and documentation. Candidates should have 4+ years of experience in building large-scale applications/pipelines, strong skills in Python/PySpark and SQL, experience with Airflow, and preferably experience with Databricks or similar platforms. Strong analytical, communication, and computer science fundamentals are required. Familiarity with FinOps or cloud cost management is a plus. The position is full-time based in Warsaw, Poland. Salary range is 250000 PLN to 350000 PLN per year, with additional benefits including health insurance, wellness offerings, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, PTO, and various incentives.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines powering internal metrics, dashboards, and reporting
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of data collection, storage, and retrieval
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to develop new and improved algorithms
  • Own and operate Airflow DAGs and orchestration workflows for reliable data delivery
  • Participate in code reviews, contribute to documentation, and raise engineering standards

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional development experience building high-performance, large-scale applications/pipelines
  • Strong proficiency in Python/PySpark and SQL
  • Hands-on experience with Airflow or a similar orchestration tool
  • Experience with Databricks or similar data lakehouse platforms is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and curiosity for understanding data
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Solid computer science fundamentals - data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
  • Familiarity with FinOps concepts or cloud cost management is a plus
