Full job description

TripleLift is hiring a Senior Cloud Architect to design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS for a high-throughput programmatic advertising platform. The role involves developing architectural standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading adoption of new cloud technologies, driving infrastructure as code practices with Terraform, integrating best practices into CI/CD pipelines, conducting architectural reviews, addressing performance and cost issues, and supporting cloud security and compliance efforts. Candidates must have 10+ years in cloud infrastructure/platform engineering with 3+ years in cloud architecture, expert AWS skills, proficiency in Terraform and CI/CD tools, experience with high-throughput low-latency systems, strong cloud security knowledge, scripting skills in Python or Go, and excellent communication and leadership abilities.

What you'll do

  • Design and deliver cloud architecture solutions on AWS meeting performance, reliability, and security requirements
  • Develop and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and reference designs
  • Partner with Platform, Security, and Data Engineering teams to assess infrastructure needs and translate into scalable designs
  • Lead evaluation and adoption of new cloud services and technologies with clear recommendations
  • Drive infrastructure as code practices using Terraform or equivalent
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to integrate cloud architecture best practices into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Conduct architectural reviews and design critiques providing constructive feedback
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks, reliability risks, and cost inefficiencies
  • Support cloud security and compliance efforts including IAM design, network segmentation, encryption strategies, and adherence to SOC2 and PCI standards
  • Mentor engineers on cloud-native design principles and serve as a go-to resource for complex infrastructure decisions

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering
  • At least 3 years focused on cloud architecture
  • Expert-level proficiency with AWS and its core services (EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFront)
  • Strong command of infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred) and modern CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
  • Experience designing for high-throughput, low-latency workloads
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles including network architecture, IAM, secrets management, and compliance frameworks (SOC2, PCI, NIST CSF)
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or systems language (Python, Go, or similar)
  • Strong architectural intuition with ability to weigh tradeoffs across performance, cost, complexity, and maintainability
  • Clear, confident communicator able to engage with engineers and business stakeholders
  • Self-directed and comfortable driving work forward with limited oversight
  • Continuous learner who keeps up with evolving cloud landscape
