Full job description
Moloco is seeking a mid-level Applied Scientist to join the Research Science team. The role involves working on the operation and optimization of software systems in collaboration with infrastructure engineering, machine learning, and data science teams. Responsibilities include evaluating system health, identifying improvement areas, conducting deep analyses, implementing and evaluating algorithms, driving performance improvements, debugging production issues, and stabilizing core systems. Candidates should have an advanced degree or relevant industry experience, at least 4 years of applied science or engineering experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to learn new technical skills quickly. The position offers a competitive salary range of $188,000 to $235,000 USD and a benefits package. The role is based in Menlo Park, CA, or Seattle, WA, with a hybrid work model.
What you'll do
- Evaluate the health of internal and external system components to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Identify new areas to improve infrastructure and machine learning components
- Complete tasks as part of larger projects involving deep unbiased analyses
- Implement and evaluate new algorithms and features in collaboration with senior Applied Scientists, Software Engineers, and Machine Learning Engineers
- Drive performance improvements and cost reductions
- Debug and investigate production issues
- Stabilize core systems
- Develop deep end-to-end understanding of the system
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, or industry experience in optimization of market prices or ML systems
- At least 4 years of engineering or applied science experience
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to contribute to presentations and reports
- Quick understanding of new information and ability to learn new technical skills across engineering, machine learning, and data science
- Track record of building positive relationships with collaborators and stakeholders
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional partners in a global company
