Microsoft Ads is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to advance research and product impact in ad retrieval, matching, ranking, and generation systems. The role involves developing and productionizing novel machine learning and AI models including LLMs, SLMs, and LRMs to improve ad discovery and ranking at scale. Responsibilities include advancing research, improving models, evolving the ranking platform, providing technical leadership, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Required qualifications include a degree in a relevant field with 3-4+ years experience or equivalent, ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background checks, and expertise in ML model training, inference optimization, and recommendation systems. Preferred qualifications include 5+ years ML experience, publication record, and proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face, and TensorFlow. Location is Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
