Full job description
Moloco is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to lead research projects focused on the operation and optimization of software systems and machine learning models. The role involves collaborating with infrastructure engineering and machine learning teams to ensure system health, improve infrastructure and ML components, and drive performance improvements and cost reductions. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent experience, 4+ years in research-related fields, 2+ years leading research projects, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global environment. The position is full-time and hybrid, based in Seoul, Korea.
What you'll do
- Lead research projects, possibly managing small teams of applied scientists
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate system health and ensure safe and efficient operation
- Identify areas for infrastructure and machine learning improvements by analyzing system and data changes
- Conduct deep, unbiased analysis to identify root causes of issues
- Design, implement, and evaluate new algorithms and features with software and machine learning engineers
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or industry experience in optimizing market prices or ML systems
- 4+ years of work experience in research-related fields or advanced degree with 2+ years experience
- 2+ years of experience leading research projects with cross-functional teams
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn new technical skills across engineering, machine learning, and data science
- Track record of building positive relationships with collaborators and stakeholders
- Strong intellectual curiosity and passion for exploring new ideas and improving methodologies
- Highly self-motivated and proactive with ability to drive research projects independently
