Full job description
GumGum is hiring a Sales Director responsible for prospecting and closing sales in its advertising platform. The role reports to the Group Sales Director for the Northeast and focuses on developing key client relationships in the Greater Boston region. Candidates should have 5+ years of digital advertising sales experience, preferably in publisher or ad tech, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. The position requires managing a book of business valued at $5.5MM+, programmatic experience, proficiency in Salesforce and MS Office, and strong communication and analytical skills. Responsibilities include driving regional revenue, generating sales activity, converting marketing leads, nurturing and upselling clients, building strategic relationships, collaborating internally, influencing product strategy, and executing strategic sales. The role offers remote work for candidates in specified US states. Salary range is $131,000 to $156,000 annually, with benefits including a 401(k) plan and potential bonuses or stock incentives.
What you'll do
- Own and grow a dedicated book of business by driving new revenue from brands and agencies across the Greater Boston region
- Generate a high volume of sales activity, including cold calling, tailored presentations, and creative out-of-the-box RFPs
- Identify, qualify, and close inbound opportunities generated from marketing channels
- Leverage market insights to expand current accounts and upsell clients on new and existing products
- Cultivate deep connections with key brand and agency contacts to understand their goals and deliver tailored advertising solutions
- Partner closely with Account Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless campaign execution that aligns with client expectations
- Translate real-world client feedback into actionable insights for the internal Product team to improve offerings
- Develop and manage high-level, strategic sales opportunities from inception to close
Requirements
- 5+ years of digital advertising sales experience (publisher or ad tech preferred) with a proven track record of hitting or exceeding targets
- Strong, active list of brand and agency contacts within the Greater Boston region
- Proven experience managing an annual book of business valued at $5.5MM+
- Programmatic experience and established relationships with IPG agencies are highly preferred
- Proficient in Salesforce (logging activity, pulling reports)
- Mastery of MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Fundamental understanding of business drivers (P&L, revenue, COGS)
- Ability to interpret data to solve work problems
- Proactive market research skills using tools like Seller Crowd and monitoring industry trades
