Full job description
Microsoft Advertising seeks a Principal Software Engineer to build and maintain a modern User Identity Graph by ingesting data from multiple Microsoft sources, collaborating with partner teams, and ensuring pipeline robustness and scalability. The role involves working with Applied Scientists to design experimentation frameworks, analyze data quality, and drive business impact. Responsibilities include leading architecture decisions, coordinating cross-team dependencies, mentoring on testing and security, automating deployments, managing live site operations, and improving AI-driven software practices. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years of engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree with 8+ years experience or Bachelor's with 12+ years. The position is full-time, on-site in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA. Salary ranges from $142,800 to $274,800 annually, with higher ranges for Bay Area and NYC locations.

Lead debugging and root cause analysis efforts, applying minimal telemetry data and privacy-preserving methods
Review code and tests to ensure quality, test coverage, and adherence to best practices and security standards
Improve AI tools and practices across the software lifecycle, embedding responsible AI practices and promoting AI-driven process improvements
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years experience OR equivalent experience
