Principal QA Engineer

What you'll do

• Manage and lead a team of test engineers and test leads, providing guidance, mentorship, and support
• Drive adoption of new testing tools, methodologies, and technologies to improve testing efficiency and product quality
• Define and implement comprehensive test strategies aligned with project goals and timelines
• Define and publish quality metrics across stakeholders and the team
• Advocate continuous improvement in test processes, methodologies, and tools
• Develop detailed test plans and test cases covering functional and non-functional requirements
• Set up test environments, design test plans, develop and execute test cases/scenarios/usage cases
• Plan and initiate non-functional testing such as performance testing
• Implement and oversee the test process ensuring thorough documentation of test results
• Conduct test automation including creation and maintenance of automated test frameworks
• Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders providing detailed QA reports and project status
• Collaborate with development and product teams to resolve issues and improve product quality
• Conduct audits of code repositories and documentation
• Participate in communication with other departments to coordinate test and implementation activities

Requirements

• Minimum 10 to 14 years of experience
• Proven experience in managing, leading and mentoring a team of test engineers and team leads
• Developing test plans, implementing test processes, recording results, and publishing to stakeholders
• Strong expertise in defining test strategy, establishing optimal test patterns, implementing key quality metrics and reporting
• Knowledge of core testing concepts like Shift-Left strategy, Test Pyramid, TDD/BDD
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience improving product quality and understanding quality needs of stakeholders
• Identifies potential process improvement areas and recommends approaches
• Strong expertise in full SDLC including test standards, code reviews, test data management, test methods and techniques
• Strong experience with automation tools such as Selenium or Playwright
• Strong experience with automation frameworks like Codecept.js, Serenity BDD, or Cucumber
• Experience on non-functional tests like performance/load/volume testing using tools like JMeter
• Hands-on experience working with technical and non-technical peers (Product owners, Business Analysts, Engineering Leads)
• Participates in architecture for new projects
• Strong communication skills (written/verbal)
