Full job description

Microsoft AI (MAI) seeks a Principal Product Marketing Manager to articulate product value to publishers, sales, and customers. Responsibilities include owning the product narrative for MAI Content, explaining AI-generated content, monetization, recommendation systems, and roadmap tradeoffs; articulating AI principles, quality standards, and guardrails; defining global audience and format narratives; partnering with Sales on positioning and revenue growth; shaping internal and external communications; and acting as a cross-functional partner to align product intent and market execution. Required qualifications include a relevant degree with 4+ to 6+ years of business experience or equivalent; preferred qualifications include 10+ years in product marketing or strategy, experience with AI-driven products, strong communication skills, and experience with publishers or advertising ecosystems. Salary ranges from $130,900 to $251,900 annually, higher in SF Bay Area and NYC. Locations include US-wide, Garden City NY, Mountain View CA, and Redmond WA.

What you'll do

  • Own the product narrative for MAI Content, working with Product and Engineering to explain product decisions including AI-generated content, monetization, recommendation systems, content formats, and roadmap tradeoffs
  • Translate internal product logic and principles into clear external-facing narratives for sales, partners, and publishers
  • Articulate MAI Content’s AI principles, quality standards, and guardrails, including quality bars, safety considerations, and trust frameworks
  • Partner with Product and Policy to ensure external messaging reflects actual system behavior
  • Define audiences, formats, and ecosystems globally, ensuring consistent and usable audience narratives across GTM motions
  • Partner with Sales on positioning and revenue growth, defining new brand and product positioning and translating product capabilities into sales-ready narratives
  • Shape MAI Content’s internal and external communications channels, developing narratives about product strategy and roadmap
  • Operate as a trusted cross-functional partner across Product, Marketing, Monetization, Sales, Policy, Growth, and Leadership
  • Identify and close gaps where product intent, market understanding, and execution are misaligned
  • Contribute to MAI-level strategic documents, narratives, and leadership conversations

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Master's Degree and 8+ years marketing or sales experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 12+ years experience or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Product Strategy, or adjacent roles at scale
  • Experience working on platforms, ecosystems, or AI-driven products where behavior and outcomes are not always deterministic
  • Proven ability to translate complex product or technical concepts into clear, persuasive narratives for senior stakeholders
  • Solid judgment around trust, quality, and external commitments
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with publishers, creators, or advertising-adjacent ecosystems
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven products, product evaluation, or policy-adjacent constraints
  • History of partnering closely with Sales on high-stakes positioning and revenue narratives
