The Trade Desk seeks a senior Principal Product Manager for Health & Pharma vertical with 15+ years experience in digital media, adtech/martech, and healthcare, including 8+ years in pharmaceutical and health media. The role involves setting multi-year product strategy, owning platform capabilities, compliance, and partnerships for healthcare advertising. Requires deep knowledge of pharma media ecosystem, regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, FDA, NAI), and technical fluency in API and data pipeline design. Responsibilities include defining product vision, driving compliance architecture, leading cross-functional teams, influencing executives, and representing the company externally. What you'll do
- Define and own multi-year product strategy for Health & Pharma vertical including HCP targeting, DTC activation, health identity, measurement, and compliance infrastructure
- Identify and prioritize white-space opportunities in health advertising ecosystem including emerging formats and channels
- Set strategic direction to compete against health-native DSPs and position platform as premium choice for regulated healthcare advertisers
- Influence enterprise-level product decisions and resource allocation with executive team
- Own end-to-end product vision for HCP audience segmentation, health identity resolution, measurement pipelines, and integrations with health data platforms and DSPs
- Drive architecture of compliance and privacy frameworks for pharmaceutical advertising in partnership with Legal, Privacy, and Policy teams
- Define technical requirements for back-end systems, APIs, and data pipelines with privacy-by-design principles
- Lead product integration strategy with Data Partnerships team for health data partnerships, acquisitions, and ecosystem alliances
- Lead and align senior stakeholders across product, engineering, data science, legal, commercial, and executive leadership on health vertical roadmap
- Serve as internal authority on regulatory landscape governing pharmaceutical advertising and proactively shape company posture
- Enable commercial teams with product credibility and depth to engage pharma clients
- Represent company with pharma brand leadership, agency groups, health data partners, and industry bodies as product and thought leader
- Contribute to industry working groups, standards bodies, and public policy on health data, privacy, and pharmaceutical advertising
- Maintain external feedback loop with pharma accounts and partners to anticipate market shifts and inform roadmap
- Build company brand in pharma and health media community through speaking, publishing, and relationship-building
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in digital media, adtech, or martech
- At least 8 years in healthcare media and marketing, including pharmaceutical advertising, HCP and DTC strategy and execution, health data platforms, or adtech serving healthcare vertical
- Track record of defining and delivering platform-level products or strategies in health or pharma media
- Deep knowledge of health media data landscape including health-native DSPs, specialty health data providers (IQVIA, Symphony Health, Veeva), NPI-level HCP audiences, and health identity resolution
- Expert understanding of regulatory environment governing pharmaceutical advertising: HIPAA, HITECH, FDA promotional guidelines (OPDP), NAI health data standards, state-level health privacy laws
- Technical fluency to engage with engineering on API design, data pipelines, identity graphs, and analytics
- Ability to operate and influence at executive level internally and externally
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to translate regulatory and technical complexities for C-suite audiences
