The role involves defining product strategy, customer value, measurement frameworks, and execution plans to create premium, brand-safe, performance-oriented advertising supply while maintaining user experience quality. Responsibilities include driving product strategy, leading product discovery, developing requirements and roadmaps, partnering with engineering and data science to ship products, using data and experimentation for evaluation, aligning stakeholders, and evolving inventory strategy. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years in product or software development, with preferred experience in product strategy, data-driven decision making, cross-functional collaboration, digital advertising, and technical fluency in platform architecture, APIs, data pipelines, experimentation systems, privacy/security, and machine learning. Salary ranges from $142,800 to $274,800 annually, with higher ranges for San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

What you'll do

  • Define and drive product strategy for a portfolio of non-Search inventory initiatives, translating business opportunities into clear customer problems, product bets, success metrics, and execution plans
  • Lead product discovery across advertisers, agencies, internal sales teams, surface owners, and engineering partners to identify high-value inventory opportunities and sharpen the why now for each investment
  • Develop crisp product requirements, roadmap priorities, launch plans, and tradeoff recommendations that balance advertiser demand, surface experience quality, marketplace economics, privacy, policy, and technical feasibility
  • Partner with engineering, data science, and design to ship scalable inventory products and measurement capabilities that improve yield, quality, relevance, and advertiser confidence
  • Use data, experimentation, customer feedback, and marketplace signals to evaluate product performance, diagnose issues, and make prioritization decisions
  • Create alignment across Microsoft Advertising, MAI, surface teams, sales, finance, and other stakeholders by communicating product vision, progress, risks, and decisions clearly at multiple levels
  • Help evolve Microsoft inventory strategy from fragmented surface-by-surface opportunities into a more unified, premium, measurable, and durable product portfolio
  • Model Microsoft culture by bringing curiosity, customer obsession, growth mindset, inclusive collaboration, and high accountability to cross-functional product work

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience driving product strategy, roadmap definition, requirements, and execution for complex software, advertising, marketplace, commerce, media, or platform products
  • Experience using data, experimentation, customer research, or business analysis to identify opportunities, make product tradeoffs, and measure outcomes
  • Experience partnering with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver products or features from concept through launch and iteration
  • Experience communicating in written and verbal formats to simplify ambiguous problems and influence stakeholders without direct authority
  • Experience in digital advertising, monetization, inventory quality, campaign management, yield optimization, brand safety, measurement, or media marketplaces
  • Experience working on consumer or commercial surfaces, commerce, content, or other scaled digital experiences
  • Experience operating in ambiguous, multi-stakeholder environments and convert early signals into structured product plans and measurable outcomes
  • Technical fluency with platform architecture, APIs, data pipelines, experimentation systems, privacy/security considerations, or machine learning-driven product experiences
  • Ability to reason across user experience, advertiser value, marketplace economics, partner incentives, and long-term platform strategy
