Full job description

The Ads Monetization Algo team at Microsoft Advertising develops and optimizes real-time bidding and auction algorithms to improve ad performance and revenue. The role requires expertise in quantitative fields such as statistical machine learning, decision theory, operations research, optimization theory, mathematical modeling, data mining, causal inference, game theory, mechanism design, and optimal control. Responsibilities include designing bidding strategies, auction mechanisms, large-scale experiments, automation algorithms for advertisers, marketplace optimization methods, and causal reasoning models. Required qualifications include a relevant degree with 3-6+ years of related experience or equivalent, with preferred qualifications including 8+ years developing live production systems and 3 years in auto-bidding or auction design. The position is full-time, on-site in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA. Salary ranges from $139,900 to $274,800 annually in the US, with higher ranges in specific metro areas.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and analyze bidding strategies using optimization and control theory
  • Design, prototype, and analyze auction mechanisms for specific product areas
  • Design and oversee large-scale, long-term experiments using advanced statistics and machine learning
  • Design automation algorithms for advertisers using AI and ML to improve ROI
  • Implement methods for optimizing the marketplace at large scale
  • Develop models for causal reasoning using AI, ML, and statistics

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience
  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience
  • OR equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Master's Degree AND 9+ years related experience or Doctorate AND 6+ years related experience or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience developing and deploying live production systems
  • 3 years of experience in Auto-Bidding or Auction Design
