The Online Forensics team within Microsoft AI Experiences protects the monetization network by anticipating and defending against emerging fraud and abuse. The Principal Applied Scientist will lead scientific strategy to assess threats in monetization and LLM-native systems, track adversary behavior, design adversarial simulations, and develop investigation platforms. Responsibilities include identifying fraud tactics, assessing risks, designing simulations, establishing ground truth, developing investigation infrastructure, leading incident reconstruction, and shaping fraud intelligence strategy. Required qualifications include a degree in a relevant field with 6+ years experience or equivalent, ability to pass security screenings, and preferred qualifications include advanced degrees with more experience. Experience with large-scale telemetry analysis, machine learning, advertising fraud, offensive security, and LLM-native attack surfaces is preferred. The role is full-time, on-site in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA. Salary ranges from $142,800 to $274,800 annually, with higher ranges in certain metropolitan areas.
