Full job description

Platform Operations Engineer responsible for supporting multiple applications in an enterprise hosted environment. Duties include escalation support, performing application upgrades, issue resolution, workload management, and communication with end users. Requires 3-5 years experience or equivalent education in Computer Science or related field. Must have strong Linux administration skills, knowledge of protocols (DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP), scripting (Shell/Python), and configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible). Must hold RedHat certifications (RHCSA/RHCE). Responsibilities include mentoring, documentation, and working rotational shifts (24/7).

What you'll do

  • Support multiple applications in an enterprise hosted environment
  • Provide escalation support to multiple platforms and services
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, yearly upgrades of applications
  • Create solutions to identified issues
  • Communicate with end users
  • Resolve issues, manage workload, and balance priorities under time-sensitive deadlines
  • Analyze client/team requests to solve technical issues
  • Engineer solutions to meet SLAs and client expectations
  • Monitor and tune applications through projects, enhancements, and integration
  • Provide formal mentorship
  • Own high and moderate complexity assignments
  • Provide oversight/review for low complexity assignments
  • Lead self and others, act as product SME or specialist
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Work with senior engineers to create and maintain documentation for production environments
  • Engage with senior engineers to document SOPs, design changes, and review prior to implementation

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience or equivalent education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or Master's with 3 years experience, or PhD
  • Basic knowledge of OS, Database, and Networking concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong Linux administration and server administration skills
  • Thorough understanding of DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP protocols
  • Experience with RedHat certifications (RHCSA / RHCE)
  • Knowledge of web servers, application servers, DNS and Mail servers
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell or Python
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools like Puppet and Ansible is a plus
  • Experience configuring and managing zones
  • Experience with server administration, monitoring, security management, log analysis, and vulnerability remediation
  • Basic knowledge of ELK and Tableau
  • Willingness to work rotational shifts (24/7)
