Full job description

Engineering Manager role leading backend engineers building low latency, high throughput ad tech systems. Requires strong technical foundation in Go and Java backend development, microservices, serverless architecture, and database systems. Responsibilities include leading feature development, driving performance and scalability improvements, occasional coding and code reviews, overseeing architecture, and fostering team growth. Requires 8+ years experience including 1-3 years managing backend teams, 6+ years programming in Java/Go, experience with distributed systems, cloud providers (AWS, GCP), real-time performance optimization, agile and CI/CD processes. Ad tech experience preferred. Benefits include fully paid health insurance, paid parental leave, and unlimited PTO. Salary range $150,000 - $200,000. Location: Los Angeles, California, United States.

What you'll do

  • Lead development of high quality features based on product requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Occasionally contribute to code/design, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance
  • Operate high-efficiency teams by implementing quality practices, overseeing architecture and design, and maintaining high code quality
  • Foster a culture of continuous growth and improvement through coaching, mentoring, feedback and measurable outcomes

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience, including 1-3+ years managing low latency high throughput backend teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Masters preferred
  • 6+ years hands on programming in Java and/or Go Lang
  • Experience building large, horizontally scalable distributed systems
  • Knowledge of cloud providers and services, especially AWS and GCP
  • Experience building large-scale, customer-facing applications focused on realtime performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Ability to reason about latency, throughput, CPU/memory profiles, and performance bottlenecks in real-time systems
  • Experience with agile development and CI/CD processes
  • Ad tech industry experience preferred
