Full job description

The Intelligence Engineer Director will provide technical leadership and manage teams to design and build AI and machine learning solutions integrated with partners. Responsibilities include leading 6-10 engineers through the software development lifecycle, acting as a hands-on player-coach, owning business and organizational strategy, collaborating across teams, partnering with Product Managers to define requirements and roadmaps, coaching on technical best practices, managing tooling and infrastructure investments, and overseeing hiring and team performance. Requirements include a STEM degree, 8+ years in software development with 5+ years in engineering leadership, deep experience in AI/ML systems at scale, expertise in system design and architecture, strong communication skills, and experience in agile environments. Preferred qualifications include experience with MLOps and contributions to the AI community. Locations include Dublin, Ireland; Chicago, Illinois, USA; and New York, New York, USA. This is a full-time, on-site role.

What you'll do

  • Lead and mentor a team of 6-10 engineers through the entire software development lifecycle—from research and prototyping to deployment and operations
  • Operate as a player-coach, staying hands-on to review designs, break down hard problems, and set technical direction by example
  • Own the business and organizational strategy for the domain, choosing what to build and what not to build to drive business outcomes
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure cohesive and powerful AI-augmented work streams
  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to define product requirements, set goals, and translate them into actionable engineering roadmaps
  • Coach the team on technical best practices and push for significant impact
  • Own and manage tooling and infrastructure investments, making disciplined decisions especially as tools move to consumption-based pricing
  • Manage hiring, performance, and retention to build a high-performing team

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related STEM field
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development
  • At least 5 years leading and managing high-performing engineering teams
  • Deep, hands-on experience building and deploying AI and machine learning systems at scale
  • Current, hands-on experience in modern AI-augmented development workflows
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Product and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Expertise in system design and architecture for scalable, production-grade AI services
  • Experience working with other teams or technical program managers to coordinate cross-team projects
  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of delivering complex technical projects on time
  • Experience building and leading teams in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Experience with MLOps, including CI/CD for machine learning, model monitoring, and data pipelines (preferred)
  • History of contributing to the AI community (e.g., open-source projects, publications, or conference presentations) (preferred)
