Full job description

Microsoft Advertising seeks a Director of Sales Operations to lead the Sales Compensation Solutions team. The role involves accountability for compensation plan design, segmentation strategy, sales planning operating model, and role excellence. Responsibilities include building a high-performing team, shaping incentive programs, advising senior leaders on compensation and sales investments, managing the sales planning cycle, establishing governance, and driving AI-enabled sales planning operations. Requires 10+ years experience in sales operations or related fields, 3+ years people management, and experience with AI, automation, and sales planning in global organizations. The position is full-time, on-site at multiple US locations including Redmond, New York, Mountain View, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, and Austin. Salary ranges from $130,900 to $277,200 annually, with higher ranges in San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. Benefits eligibility varies.

What you'll do

  • Build a high-performing organization that attracts exceptional talent, develops future leaders, and creates accountability and clarity
  • Translate business priorities into seller action by shaping incentive programs, segmentation strategies, and planning frameworks
  • Advise senior leaders on compensation strategy, sales investments, coverage, planning, and field readiness
  • Deliver MSA's Sales Planning cycle ensuring seller assignments, quotas, incentive plans, and payouts are successful
  • Establish governance to keep plans fair, scalable, and trusted
  • Align Sales, Finance, HR, Product, Engineering, and Strategy partners to deliver transformations
  • Shape the future of Sales Planning through AI-enabled operations, automation, and simplification

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Design, Finance or related field AND 10+ years experience in or leading sales operations, project management, analytics, compensation, sales performance analytics, finance/business analyst, process improvement, business development, consulting, finance, marketing, or a related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Sales, Accounting, Information Systems, Social Sciences AND 10+ years experience in or leading sales operations, project management, analytics, compensation, sales performance analytics, finance/business analyst, process improvement, business development, consulting, finance, marketing, or a related field OR equivalent experience
  • 3+ years people management experience
  • Demonstrated success translating business strategy into scalable operating models, programs, and governance frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence senior executives, and navigate ambiguity
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, data, or process redesign to transform business operations
  • Experience leading Sales Planning, sales compensation, segmentation, quota setting, or related sales operations functions in a global or highly matrixed sales organization
