Full job description

Microsoft Advertising seeks a Director of Customer and Partner Marketing to translate Microsoft's marketing and AI capabilities into real-world client outcomes. The role requires deep client empathy, commercial awareness, and leadership to partner across sales, product, marketing, and activation teams. Responsibilities include understanding client needs, creating client-centric content, collaborating cross-functionally, applying market insights, and driving measurable client impact. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years or equivalent experience in integrated marketing or related fields, with preference for experience in AdTech and media. The position is full-time, hybrid, and located in New York, Redmond, Mountain View, or Chicago. Salary ranges from $130,900 to $251,900 annually, higher in select metro areas.

What you'll do

  • Develop deep understanding of client needs, business pressures, and market dynamics across industries, regions, and verticals
  • Ensure all work reflects how clients operate based on customer behavior, feedback, and real-world use cases
  • Incorporate client voice into content creation and influence priorities
  • Translate Microsoft capabilities and solutions into compelling stories addressing client challenges
  • Shift conversations from products to client outcomes such as growth, trust, efficiency, and competitive advantage
  • Identify and build AI-enabled approaches to create and distribute content more effectively
  • Partner with Sales to understand client priorities and objections and translate into strategies and solutions
  • Collaborate with Product teams to ensure content reflects client needs, market dynamics, and product vision
  • Work with Marketing peers to ensure consistent and relevant narratives
  • Align with activation teams to ensure effective execution of strategies
  • Act as connector across functions to break down silos and drive alignment around client and solution
  • Ensure activations and content deliver consistent, client-centric experience
  • Apply outside-in lens to challenge assumptions and ensure market relevance
  • Monitor client, competitor, and partner evolution and adapt strategies accordingly
  • Ensure positioning and engagement reflect client priorities, language, and decision frameworks
  • Deliver tangible, measurable value for clients
  • Help clients navigate complexity especially as AI reshapes customer experience, trust, and decision-making
  • Provide clear, actionable guidance for clients
  • Influence without authority across complex, global, cross-functional teams
  • Build partnerships to align priorities, accelerate execution, and remove friction
  • Ensure tight content feedback loops between clients, sales, marketing, product, and activation
  • Champion client understanding and empathy culture
  • Encourage teams to engage directly with client insights, feedback, and use cases
  • Improve how internal teams discover and deliver compelling content translating into client outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years integrated marketing, event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience OR equivalent experience
  • Master's Degree in related field AND 3+ years integrated marketing experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years integrated marketing experience OR equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience as a marketer and/or leader working across markets globally in integrated marketing / marketing communications
  • Strong experience in AdTech and media preferred
  • Ability to influence multiple levels of the organization
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with a globally dispersed team and stakeholders
  • Previous leadership skills with ability to motivate and mobilize geographically dispersed teams, partners, and stakeholders
