Full job description

The Global Marketing Engines & Experiences team seeks a Creative Lead – Social (Copy) to lead storytelling and copy across Microsoft's commercial marketing. Responsibilities include driving creative direction for integrated campaigns on social, digital, and emerging platforms; translating insights into editorial concepts; maintaining Microsoft’s brand voice; partnering with design and creative teams; creating engaging social content; ensuring creative excellence; pitching ideas; staying current on trends; collaborating with marketing teams; managing multiple workstreams; experimenting with generative AI and automation tools; and embodying Microsoft culture and values. Requirements include 3+ years social-first content creation experience, relevant certification or equivalent, and 1+ year project leadership experience. Preferred qualifications include 5+ years writing or content design growth, 3+ years project leadership, 2+ years related content domain experience, portfolio submission, and 5+ years copy or creative direction in B2B, technology, or advertising. Salary ranges from $119,800 to $234,700 annually, higher in SF Bay Area and NYC. Locations include Redmond, WA; New York, NY; Mountain View, CA; and Atlanta, GA.

What you'll do

  • Drive creative direction of integrated campaigns across social, digital, and emerging platforms
  • Translate insights, trends, and cultural moments into breakthrough editorial concepts
  • Maintain and evolve Microsoft’s brand voice through updated playbooks, guidelines, and tone-of-voice documentation
  • Partner with design and creative stakeholders to bring integrated concepts to life
  • Create engaging content to support always-on social presence, user-generated content (UGC), and real time
  • Ensure consistency and creative excellence for all deliverables
  • Present and pitch ideas to internal stakeholders and leadership with clarity and passion
  • Stay updated on trends, internet culture, and audience behaviors to inform and inspire work
  • Partner with other creative leads, strategists, and marketing teams to meet campaign objectives and audience needs
  • Participate in cross-functional writer’s rooms to drive creative excellence
  • Manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, deadlines, and creative quality
  • Experiment with generative AI and automation tools to enhance ideation, iteration, and content workflows
  • Collaborate across creative and production partners (internal and external) to ensure world-class execution

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in social-first content creation including concepting, script creation or real-time responses
  • Certification, degree, or training in English, Writing, Human-centered Design, Literature, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year project leadership experience
  • Preferred: 5+ years growth in writing or content design
  • Preferred: 3+ years project leadership experience
  • Preferred: 2+ years experience in a related content domain/area
  • Ability to provide a portfolio of relevant work
  • 5+ years experience in copy or creative direction roles in B2B, technology, advertising, or related environments
  • 5+ years experience and portfolio showcasing campaign work, platform-specific design, and brand systems
