Full job description

The Trade Desk is seeking a Business Development Director in Seoul, South Korea to lead commercial efforts with key domestic and outbound advertising brands and agency holding companies. This senior role requires a proven track record in business development and sales leadership within the Korean advertising ecosystem, strong relationships with top-tier advertisers and agencies, and the ability to drive new business growth and strategic partnerships. Responsibilities include managing strategic accounts, building executive relationships, collaborating cross-functionally, managing forecasts and pipelines, representing the company at industry events, and contributing to company culture. Candidates must have strong negotiation, quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, be bilingual in Korean and English, and have experience influencing C-level stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Lead business development efforts for The Trade Desk’s largest or most strategic accounts
  • Build and maintain relationships with top executives at brand advertisers
  • Act as a master relationship builder, sales leader, and creative problem solver with strong emotional intelligence and professionalism
  • Serve as a consultative partner to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Accurately manage and communicate monthly forecasts and pipeline
  • Partner closely with GMs and VPs to define and execute strategic initiatives
  • Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure effective client management
  • Think beyond core sales responsibilities to understand and contribute to the business holistically
  • Represent The Trade Desk at regional industry events and serve as a public-facing voice for the company
  • Understand and appropriately apply Delegation of Authority in decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and generate revenue; sponsor execution of key strategic projects
  • Act as a bridge between Business Development and senior TTD leadership, ensuring alignment and communication
  • Participate in product feedback sessions and working groups, sharing client and market insights
  • Take personal ownership of company success and drive impact at a market level
  • Evangelize TTD’s values and vision to industry leaders; regularly present at industry events to shape market perception

Requirements

  • Proven track record in business development and local/outbound sales within the Korean advertising ecosystem
  • Deep knowledge of the local media landscape, agency structures, and cultural nuances
  • Leads strategic partnerships with top-tier Korean advertisers and agency holding groups
  • Drives new business growth by identifying, pitching, and converting high-potential accounts across verticals
  • Builds and nurtures long-term, consultative relationships with key decision-makers at both brands and agencies
  • Holds existing senior-level relationships with major advertisers and agencies in Korea
  • Serves as a senior leader within the Korea BD team, mentoring and enabling junior and mid-level sellers
  • Demonstrated success in sales leadership roles, consistently exceeding revenue targets and driving sustainable growth
  • Strong negotiation experience, including leading complex commercial deals with regional and global accounts
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with ability to translate data into actionable commercial strategies
  • Comfortable engaging in technical product discussions, including roadmap prioritization and platform scoping
  • Effective communicator with strong executive presence, able to confidently engage and influence C-level stakeholders
  • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, client services, finance, and legal
  • Able to advocate for Korean market needs within global teams while aligning with broader company strategy
  • Active contributor to global initiatives including multi-market client growth, product feedback loops, and international expansion
  • Bilingual fluency in Korean and English
