Full job description
DoubleVerify seeks a VP, Global Data & Privacy to lead the Privacy Team and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, COPPA, and emerging AI privacy laws. The role involves leading the global privacy program, maintaining privacy governance frameworks and policies, serving as Data Protection Officer, driving privacy-by-design in product development, reviewing contracts for privacy compliance, conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments, monitoring regulatory changes, leading audits for certifications, delivering privacy training, defining AI governance policies, managing data security incident response, and representing the company externally with industry and regulatory bodies. Candidates must have a J.D., active bar membership, relevant privacy certifications preferred, 6-10 years of experience in data privacy with 3-5 years in leadership, strong knowledge of US and EU privacy laws, and experience in technology or digital advertising sectors. The role is full-time, on-site in New York City, with a salary range of $185,000 to $319,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
What you'll do
- Lead global privacy program and partner with Data & AI Governance Committee to develop and monitor privacy frameworks
- Maintain and evolve privacy governance framework for compliance with data privacy regulations and emerging AI privacy laws
- Maintain and update global privacy policies
- Serve as Data Protection Officer and primary contact for data protection authorities
- Drive privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default practices in product development
- Review contracts for data privacy requirements with Legal and Information Security
- Represent company externally on privacy and data use matters
- Conduct and oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Monitor global privacy regulatory landscape and assess impact of new laws
- Lead audits and maintain global accreditations and certifications
- Develop and deliver privacy training programs
- Define enterprise-wide AI governance roadmap and policies
- Maintain records of data assets, flows, processing activities, and vendor assessments
- Partner on data security incident management and incident response
- Ensure IT systems comply with data privacy laws and policies
- Represent company externally with industry associations, government organizations, and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with Government Relations on global regulations and industry frameworks
- Participate in industry groups to influence privacy standards and regulations
Requirements
- Law degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership
- Data Protection and/or Privacy certification such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent (preferred)
- 6-10 years of progressive experience in data privacy and protection
- 3-5 years in a leadership role
- Experience with U.S. and EU data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, COPPA) and emerging AI privacy regulations
- Experience within compliance, legal, audit and/or risk function with substantial privacy compliance experience
- Experience developing policy and compliance training programs
- Experience serving as Data Protection Officer or similar senior privacy role preferred
- Background in technology companies, especially digital advertising, adtech, martech, or fraud detection industries preferred
- Willingness to travel as needed for business purposes
