Full job description

Accounting Technician role in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks including accounts payable and receivable management, vendor and client onboarding, invoice processing, payment runs, billing, credit card reconciliation, cash flow monitoring, and dispute resolution. Support month-end close activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, government remittances, grant claims, payroll preparation, and year-end financial statement preparation. Requires 3-5 years experience in bookkeeping or accounting technician role, proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel, bilingual in French and English, and familiarity with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/NCECF). Experience in multi-entity and multi-currency environments is a plus.

What you'll do

  • Assist with new client onboarding (finance side) and new vendor setup
  • Process and track vendor invoices and expense submissions across multiple entities (CAD, USD)
  • Manage the weekly Accounts Payable payment run and maintain the vendor master list
  • Manage billing activities including accounts receivable processing, account analysis, collections, and customer follow-up on outstanding balances
  • Reconcile credit cards and process credit card payments
  • Monitor cash flow and bank reconciliations
  • Support in resolving client and vendor disputes
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries: accruals, deferred revenues, prepayments, fixed assets, rebates
  • Perform reconciliations on cash and balance sheet accounts including fixed asset ledger and intercompany transactions
  • Prepare and file government remittances and statutory reports including GST, QST, and other tax filings
  • Prepare and submit monthly grant claims
  • Handle payroll preparation and support HR in maintaining payroll records and internal controls
  • Support year-end financial statement preparation
  • Provide ad hoc accounting and administrative support
  • Maintain organized accounting records and documentation

Requirements

  • 3–5 years in a bookkeeping or accounting technician role
  • Strong hands-on experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Familiarity with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/NCECF)
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Microsoft Excel skills
  • Bilingual in French and English (written and spoken)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision
