Full job description
Lead the technical health, performance, and evolution of Viant’s Demand-Side Platform (DSP). Act as the senior representative of Platform Operations, bridging Operations, Product, and Engineering. Responsibilities include operational oversight of the DSP, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, liaising between teams and partners, leveraging data analysis for optimizations, contributing to product roadmap, designing training and process improvements, developing technical guides and dashboards, improving efficiency through tools and automation, communicating technical issues and recommendations, and mentoring junior team members. Requirements include 5+ years in technical ad operations or programmatic advertising, deep DSP knowledge, proficiency in SQL, BigQuery, Python, JavaScript, HTML, strong communication skills, leadership experience, and a technical bachelor's degree. Benefits include fully paid health insurance, paid parental leave, and unlimited PTO. Salary range is $80,000 - $95,000 per year. Location is Irvine, California, with hybrid remote work option.
What you'll do
- Operational oversight of Viant’s DSP, ensuring system integrity, performance optimization, and ongoing alignment with business goals
- Lead the diagnosis and resolution of high-impact technical issues, applying a systems-thinking approach to root cause analysis and resolution plans
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between Operations, Product, Engineering, and external partners—ensuring clarity, alignment, and accountability on initiatives
- Leverage advanced data analysis to uncover trends, inform optimizations, and recommend enhancements to platform workflows or campaign delivery
- Actively contribute to the product team roadmap by identifying gaps, advocating for features, and supporting internal testing for upcoming releases
- Design and deliver advanced training, onboarding materials, and process improvements that scale platform support across teams
- Own the development of robust technical guides, platform troubleshooting protocols, and system performance dashboards for leadership visibility
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through the use of tools, scripts, or process redesign, and collaborate with engineering and automation teams to implement effective solutions
- Synthesize technical issues and strategic recommendations into clear narratives for executive, client-facing, and cross-functional audiences
- Support the growth of junior team members by sharing best practices, guiding escalations, and fostering a high-performance operational culture
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in technical ad operations, platform support, or programmatic advertising strategy
- Deep understanding of DSP functionality, ad serving, real-time bidding, and campaign lifecycle management
- Proficiency in SQL, BigQuery, Python, or related tools for data analysis and workflow automation
- Strong grasp of JavaScript, HTML, and standard ad tech debugging techniques
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional projects or managing high-severity issues
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, quantitative, or related field
