Full job description

RTB House is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for its Bidding Platform team. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying complex software systems processing over 20 million requests per second in real-time ad auctions. Responsibilities include understanding ad technologies and standards (OpenRTB, MRAID, VAST), analyzing and improving ad workflows, designing and leading implementation of technical solutions, providing hands-on technical leadership, and collaborating with stakeholders. Required experience includes 10+ years in software development, 3+ years in tech leadership roles, deep knowledge of distributed IT systems, and C1 proficiency in English and Polish. Technologies used include Java, Python, Aerospike, Memcached, Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, MinIO, Kafka, Clickhouse, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Jenkins, and Graphite. The position offers remote work or office options in Warsaw or Cracow, with cooperation based on a B2B contract.

What you'll do

  • Gain deep understanding of ad technology and ad industry standards: OpenRTB, MRAID, VAST
  • Analyse issues with end-to-end ad workflows, reproduce problematic cases, and propose improvements
  • Design technical and operational solutions to improve ad experience and performance metrics
  • Lead implementation of architectural solutions ensuring high quality and evaluate impact on business performance
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership: solve complex system challenges, participate in planning and scoping projects, ensure highest coding standards via code reviews
  • Cooperate with stakeholders across the entire organization

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing and deploying complex software systems
  • 3+ years of tech leadership experience (e.g. tech lead, staff, architect roles) in medium or large organizations
  • Excellent understanding of complex, distributed IT systems - from the hardware and networking level, through software, to algorithms
  • C1 level in English and Polish
