Staff Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Plan, implement, and take full ownership of core features across Discovery’s backend services (audience targeting, keyword-association search, and the core management API), owning the entire development cycle
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, TSE, and DevOps on design and architecture decisions
• Work on the audience-activation layer that bridges Discovery’s audience data to downstream targeting systems, including TV, streaming, and commercial viewership signals
• Participate in refactoring system components and modernizing the stack to improve performance and stability
• Lead and mentor other developers, providing guidance on complex, cross-service projects

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in developing complex enterprise web applications and distributed systems in production
• Deep understanding in Java programming (Spring Boot/Spring - a must!)
• Experience with designing and implementing architecture web systems
• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, Vertica)
• Experience in modern UI frameworks (Angular, Vue, React) - advantage
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Highly motivated team player with a strong 'can-do' attitude and great interpersonal skills
• Self-starter that can work independently and multi-task effectively
• Passionate and eager to learn new technologies
• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent
