Full job description

Moloco is hiring a Staff Data Scientist to lead the multi-year strategy and execution of the ads supply ecosystem, including OpenRTB integrations, supply diversification, and publisher onboarding. The role requires deep expertise in programmatic advertising, data science, and statistical analysis. Responsibilities include driving supply strategy, conducting data analysis and experiments to improve ML and bidding systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Candidates must have 6+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 4+ years experience, strong programming skills in Python, R, or SQL, and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a PhD and deep knowledge of the programmatic supply ecosystem and partner-facing API integrations. The position offers a competitive salary range of $204,000 to $255,000 USD and benefits, with hybrid work options in Menlo Park, CA or Seattle, WA.

What you'll do

  • Own multi-year strategy, roadmap, and execution across the ads supply ecosystem
  • Drive OpenRTB integrations with top-tier third-party supply partners and exchanges
  • Lead end-to-end General Supply strategy including exchange integrations, supply diversification, publisher onboarding, and ecosystem expansion
  • Define and deliver a multi-year supply vision improving supply quality, scalability, integration reliability, and differentiation
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis and experiments to influence product decisions and strategies
  • Analyze large datasets to extract valuable signals and produce actionable insights to improve ML and bidding systems

Requirements

  • Distinctive problem-solving skills and ability to articulate product questions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to own complex projects end-to-end
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis techniques such as regression or linear models
  • Experience with Python, R or other scripting languages, and database languages such as SQL or data manipulation tools like Pandas or Dplyr
  • Ability to build positive relationships within the data science team and with cross-functional partners
  • 6+ years of work experience in data science related fields or advanced degree with 4+ years experience
  • Preferred: PhD or advanced degree
  • Deep expertise in programmatic supply ecosystem including ad exchanges, SSPs, OpenRTB protocols, auction mechanics, and cross-platform integration
  • Ability to drive cross-org alignment and influence senior stakeholders
  • Familiarity with publisher ad servers, targeting logic, and impression delivery workflows
  • Deep knowledge of supply-side performance metrics and optimization
  • Hands-on experience with integrations and partner-facing APIs
