Full job description

Senior Software Engineer role at Viant Technology in Irvine, CA. Responsibilities include managing a high-volume, low latency ad server application, working on bid and performance optimization, developing self-diagnostic software architecture, and collaborating across teams. Requires Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 years experience in software engineering. Must have experience with GoLang, Java, MySQL, Oracle, AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS), scalable distributed systems, multithreading, concurrency, and low-latency application development. Telecommuting permitted per company policy. Salary range $160,000 - $180,000 per year.

What you'll do

  • Work directly with Viant’s ad server managing a high-volume, low latency application processing billions of unique software requests daily
  • Work on bid optimization and dynamic performance optimization
  • Develop self-diagnostic and healing software architecture
  • Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software features focusing on cost, scalability, performance, and fault-tolerance
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, bug triage, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Technical operations teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Provide technical expertise to implement and deliver various web and other system projects
  • Organize and participate in review sessions, contribute design insights, and collaborate in architectural discussions
  • Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle from concept to deployment
  • Interface with program managers, developers, and cross-functional teams for project-based assignments

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Applied Data Science, or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in Software Engineer or related occupation
  • Programming in GoLang and Java
  • Experience with Database technologies (MySQL and Oracle)
  • Experience with AWS and related cloud technologies (EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS)
  • Designing and implementing scalable, high-performance distributed systems
  • Developing detailed design specifications
  • Experience with multithreading, concurrency, and low-latency application development
