Full job description

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks a senior Software Engineer to design, build, and support a video advertising platform. The role is remote with locations in Reston, VA and Chicago, IL. Responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders, designing software and web applications, supporting and updating applications, training staff, writing documentation, evaluating competitive products, providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers, working with QA, and applying engineering and project management skills. Requires a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years relevant experience, proficiency in C/C++, DB design, network programming, distributed systems, and mission-critical systems. Familiarity with Open RTB and advertising industry experience is a plus. Must be knowledgeable in SDLC, Agile, and able to work with global teams including outside normal hours. Salary range is $129,515.93 to $212,776.16 depending on experience. What you'll do

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements
  • Conduct analysis to determine integration needs
  • Design new software and web applications
  • Support applications under development and customize current applications
  • Assist with software update process and roll-outs of software releases
  • Train representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications
  • Research, write and edit documentation and technical requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance, mentor junior engineers
  • Work with Quality Assurance to ensure applications meet specifications
  • Apply engineering methodologies, process design and project management skills
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters
  • Work nights, weekends, variable schedules and overtime as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or above
  • 3 years or above relevant work experience
  • Experience with C/C++, DB design, and network programming
  • Experience with distributed system software design and mission-critical systems
  • Familiar with Open RTB protocol is a plus
  • Advertising industry experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and technical innovation
  • Strong passion for learning/practicing new techniques
  • Knowledgeable about SDLC, Agile and Software Engineering Methodology
  • Ability to work closely with global teams and accept additional working times besides normal working hours
