Full job description

Senior Data Engineer role at DV Scibids in New York, NY (hybrid, 3 days on-site). Responsibilities include integrating external partner APIs, building backend services and data pipelines, working with large-scale adtech datasets, collaborating with cross-functional teams, operating production systems, and mentoring junior engineers. Requires 3+ years experience in data/backend engineering, strong Python and SQL skills, experience with API integration, cloud environments, CI/CD, Docker, and container orchestration. Familiarity with Java, Rust, AI-augmented development, and AdTech is a plus. Salary range $89,000 - $178,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you'll do

  • Explore, evaluate, and integrate external partner APIs to support product expansion
  • Work closely with Product to clarify partner platform capabilities and constraints
  • Design, build, and maintain backend services and endpoints consumed by other teams
  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines and services that ingest, transform, and reconcile data from partner platforms and internal systems
  • Work with massive datasets generated by digital advertising auctions and build reliable, performant systems at scale
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Engineering teams to bridge business needs and platform capabilities
  • Operate production systems, investigate issues, assess impact, and implement durable fixes
  • Continuously release features using automated deployment tools and infrastructure-as-code frameworks
  • Improve observability, reliability, and maintainability of owned systems
  • Provide code reviews, contribute to system design discussions, and mentor junior engineers
  • Partner with AI platform teams to enable deployment of agentic solutions

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or a similar role
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience with Java, Rust, or similar languages is a plus
  • Experience integrating with external APIs and building production services on top of them
  • Comfortable reasoning about ambiguous external platform behavior and turning that into robust internal abstractions
  • Experience designing and operating data pipelines or services that work with large-scale datasets
  • Familiarity with cloud environments and modern engineering practices such as Git, CI/CD, Docker, and container orchestration
  • Comfortable collaborating with product managers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well across teams
  • Care about automation, reliability, observability, and data-driven decision making
  • Familiarity with AI-augmented development style; familiarity with Claude Code or Cursor is welcome but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with AdTech or auction-based systems is a plus
