Full job description

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks Senior Software Engineers to design, build, and support a high-quality video advertising platform. The role involves constructing and optimizing ad delivery infrastructure with high concurrency, availability, and low latency. Responsibilities include end-to-end software development, system optimization, collaborating with stakeholders, writing technical documentation, and mentoring junior engineers. Development tasks focus on AWS, Kubernetes, containerization, security, and performance optimization. Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience, proficiency in C++ or Golang, strong knowledge of Linux/Unix, distributed systems, and network programming. A Bachelor's degree is required. Experience with large-scale online services, advertising technology, and Agile methodologies is preferred. The position is full-time with locations in Chicago, Illinois, and Englewood, Colorado. Salary ranges from $129,515.93 to $203,525.03 depending on location and experience. What you'll do

  • Construct and optimize ad delivery system infrastructure with high concurrency, availability, and low latency
  • Continuous optimization and reconstruction of existing systems to support business development
  • End-to-end software development and software update process management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements
  • Research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Apply engineering methodologies and defend architectural and technical choices
  • Design, architect, and implement solutions using AWS, Kubernetes, and containerization
  • Develop and manage scalable and reliable AWS infrastructure
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications with Kubernetes
  • Implement security best practices for AWS and container environments
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and availability in AWS
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for technical designs and specifications
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Support overall business and solve technical issues
  • Stay updated with latest AWS, Kubernetes, and containerization advancements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues
  • Identify and implement automation and optimization opportunities
  • Partner with global engineering, product, and operations teams
  • Mentor junior software engineers

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of cloud, containerization and related technologies
  • Familiarity with distributed architecture and middleware such as cache, message queue, Nginx
  • Experience in large-scale online service design, development, operation and maintenance preferred
  • Good understanding of Linux/Unix
  • Excellent data structure and algorithm foundation
  • Proficiency in C/C++ or Golang and network programming
  • Experience with large system software design and development
  • Experience with distributed and mission-critical systems preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation
  • Strong passion for learning and practicing new techniques
  • Knowledgeable about SDLC, Agile and Software Engineering Methodology
  • Team working skills and good communication skills
  • Willingness to work under pressure
  • Strong ability and persistence in technical support
  • Ability to work closely with global teams and accept additional working hours
  • Advertising industry experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree or above
