Full job description
Senior Backend Engineer role on R&D team in Downtown Los Angeles. Build and improve Taboola’s recommendation infrastructure and backend services for Realize platform serving 600M+ daily users. Requires 5+ years Java and Spring Framework experience, strong database knowledge (MySQL, Cassandra), big data tools (Apache Spark, Hadoop, BigQuery), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), Git, microservices, REST APIs, event-driven messaging (Kafka), and real-time search technologies (Vespa, Elasticsearch, Solr). Responsibilities include designing scalable backend systems, end-to-end ownership, mentoring developers, production support, and collaborating with product and architecture teams. Hybrid work schedule with 3 days in-office. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) match, bonus, equity, flexible PTO, paid parental leave, stocked kitchen, and parking. Salary range $165,000 to $185,000 USD.
