Full job description

Samba is hiring a full-time junior SDET based in Porto, Portugal. The role involves developing and maintaining testing tools and automated test scripts for backend and frontend components, performing white-box testing, code reviews, and debugging. Candidates should have a degree in Software Engineering or similar, knowledge of OOP, experience or interest in scripting (PowerShell or Bash), proficiency with Git, and strong English communication skills. Experience with .NET/C# is a plus, but other languages like Java, Python, or C++ are acceptable. Salary range is 25,000 to 45,000 Euro per year.

What you'll do

  • Write and execute test cases (unit, integration, and stress tests) for backend and frontend components
  • Perform white-box testing and code reviews
  • Develop and evolve internal testing tools and utilities
  • Write and maintain automated test scripts
  • Identify root causes of failures by analyzing logs and stack traces
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies and help spot edge cases early
  • Assist in maintaining testing environments
  • Ensure code changes are maintainable and error handling is robust
  • Work closely with Senior SDETs and Developers to learn scalable test suite architecture and CI/CD pipeline management

Requirements

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical background
  • Solid grasp of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and modern software architecture
  • Problem-solving skills and technical curiosity
  • Experience or strong interest in scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash
  • Comfortable with version control using Git
  • Strong conversational English skills (written and spoken)
  • Previous experience in Software Developer or QA Engineer role (including internships or significant academic projects) is an advantage
