PulsePoint is seeking a senior engineer to build and maintain streaming and storage systems processing billions of daily events using Kafka, Hadoop HDFS, and Ceph. The role involves ownership of system lifecycle from architecture to deployment, capacity planning, and incident response across hybrid infrastructure (bare-metal on-prem, cloud, and integration). Responsibilities include Kafka topic design and optimization, Ceph operations and capacity planning, operational automation to reduce manual work and improve incident response, SQL Server backup and recovery support, and developing data team tooling with observability. Required skills include 5+ years operating distributed systems at scale, deep expertise in Kafka or Ceph, ability to design for scale and reliability, mentoring experience, and willingness to work US ET hours. The role is fully remote and focuses on platform architecture, engineering standards, and infrastructure supporting multiple teams. Technologies used include Apache Kafka, Hadoop, Ceph, SQL Server, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, ArgoCD, Prometheus, Grafana, Icinga, PagerDuty, and Kubernetes.
